One Being is a site about You. Our content revolves around deeper insights and the basis of true philosophical/spiritual thinking. Our goal is to bring you the most pertinent and meaningful lectures, books, and videos from the best speakers and authors around. It is also our goal to be a resource of self-expression, meaning that you can write articles about your insights or questions, as well as discuss them openly in our on-site Forum. If ever you have a question that you would like to ask the site staff directly, you are encouraged to contact us at any point. We want to be the only site you need find the path to your "self".
What inspired you to launch your own website?
At one point in our history Philosophy was deemed to be one of the highest callings possible...now it has become the punchline of a joke or a boring extra credit you can get in university. Philosophy has gotten a bad name, it's original meaning was "the rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics". I'd say this is pretty important for our species and the absence of it is becoming very obvious in the world today. We have no sense of who we are, where we are going, or where we came from and this complete lack of meaningful purpose has spawned generations of self-serving, materialistic, and emotionally shallow individuals. It is time we started to wake up and make this world what it should be.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
The very first website that was attempted by our team was called Path To Eden. The focus of the website was to provide a resource of articles related to consciousness, being, and philosophy but the site lacked resources for conversation, discussion, and questions. The site was eventually dropped by the site administrator in order to spend some time in contemplation in the rain forest.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The site name was decided because it describes every participant. We are all of One Being and the site focuses on this realization.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Many other philosophy/spiritual sites lack quality information. They attempt to slap together whatever information says "consciousness" without having personal and in-depth knowledge of the materials. The point of this site is to provide as many free and informative resources as possible with personal attention to the participants questions.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
There is no goal to the site, it's existence is all it needs. We do not intend to sell the site or use it for explicit marketing (though there are links to books available for purchase). One Being will always be about free information.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Time and money are of no consequence, if even one person gains insight from our website then we have succeeded.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Live video and chat sessions would be added (and will be in the near future)
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely. Our staff is very familiar with the concepts discussed and the reality behind them, any questions, concerns, or suggestions are taken and reviewed almost immediately.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
None.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Making people aware of the importance of the websites information. Awareness is growing by the day and, with many books and videos being released into the market on consciousness and Being, more and more people are searching for the answers we provide.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth. This has always been the best way to spread information and it has worked well for One Being. We are all in this together and, as people realize how informative and helpful the site is, our popularity is growing.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It has been a lot more fun.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site was activated just recently and is already getting a good amount of visitors and subscriptions to our mailing list (which gives access to our exclusive ebook, You Are).
What would you recommend to visitors of your Website?
We would recommend first getting familiar with the Words section and then moving on to the Video Vault in our Expand section. The vault is one of our favorite resources and, after you read our ebook, will reveal a whole new level of awareness and a new depth to the experience of life.
