When did you start your website and why?
I started it in April 2007. I already own OfSpirit.com (2000), BestPsychicMediums.com (2001) and GriefAndBelief.com (2002). However, many people have asked me over the years to provide a directory of psychics and mediums that they could use to find practitioners in their state, city or country. So this was my answer to all those requests.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
This is simply a directory of psychics and psychic mediums where the public can read and write reviews about their favorite practitioners.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
A lot of psychics try to submit listings using nicknames or just their first name. I require that everyone submit a listing with their full name (first and last). I've had the same problem with some of the reviews people submit. But none are approved without a full name.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
There is both a free and a paid listing option. So it's been fairly easy getting people to add their listings, especially the free ones.
What was your biggest mistake?
Waiting so long before I created this site. It is long overdue.
Who maintains your website and why?
I maintain everything myself on BestPsychicDirectory.com. I approve all the listings and reviews. And I check to make sure that it remains professional in both appearance and use.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
I no longer get requests from the public asking for a list of psychics or mediums from their area.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
The Internet is only going to grow. More and more people are trusting it for shopping, research and references. And the search engines are learning how to weed out the garbage sites from the good ones. The Internet is only getting better and it has really made the world a little smaller by connecting people from all over the world.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
SEO is important, but not as important as some try to tell you. My sites OfSpirit.com and BestPsychicMediums.com do fantastic in the search engines and always have--usually first page results (try searching for "psychic mediums"). I'm sure this new one, BestPscyhicDirectory.com, will do great, too. I optimize for keywords and keyphrases, and I never try to trick the search engines. The content is what matters most. But providing honest content and straghtforward optimization is as far as I go. The sites speak for themselves and that's what works for me.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
They have been really helpful.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
OfSpirit.com has 2000 pages of articles. That content has been the best promotion. The search engines spider that content and send people my way when people are doing searches for that information.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Paying large fees for newsletter advertising and print advertising.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
I'd like to see the search engines find a way to disregard the sites that offer nothing. These are the sites that have no content and only text ads. They are simply a waste of people's time.
