Please give us a short summary of your website?
Barb Powell is a Psychic Medium, Profiler and Remote Viewer who has the natural ability to connect with Spirit and does not require the use of any tools. She is widely known for accuracy, honesty and "telling it like it is". She has helped thousands map out clear and precise direction in their life path towards spiritual development and personal enrichment. Barb possesses a unique talent for bridging the unknown and her clientele, uniting the unconscious world of the seen and unseen that lingers between physical and spiritual realities. She believes that we begin to heal and grow spiritually once we unlock the solutions by becoming aware of the life blocks that keep us from reaching our life theme.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was inspired to be myself. I found a few years back that I was trying to fit into society or what I thought society wanted me to be. I was not happy and went searching, seeking who I actually was. Basically what everyone comes to do at different points/times in their own life. I then found that I just had to be myself and be who I was meant to be. So that led to a couple more years of becoming aquainted with my soul.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launed my first website in the year 2004. This was basically the same website I have, different view of course.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I used my own name. I did not want to use a professional name, did not want to be associated with anything mystic, etc. But wanted to be myself, for I am not ashamed of who I am.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I think that I'm different than others because I read in a different fashion. I do not use tools or props such as tarot cards. Everyone has certain skill levels.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I would welcome any offers that come my way. I am although a tad picky and have turned down a few offers of media/tv, etc. I want to write a book about my soul search and where it led me and the unique way I found my husband.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I don't invest all that much money really, except for the price of keeping my website, running my newsletter, etc.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would love to offer online chat room groups, support to those who come to my website that can not afford readings but need help and guidance. There are some people who come along that just need a push in the right direction, they don't really need a reading but just to be told they are doing all they can and that tomorrow is another day.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
You betcha. I have a few people who work with me now, family of course, but they still help with what I need. I also have a manager so I have someone else I could turn to.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No unexpected costs but a few headaches of my site being down and then only to realize that the host ran away and I did not back up my website. But all is well and a lesson learned...always back up information. So I turned to my webmaster who took care of things.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is of course life lessons, just like everyone else. To be myself! That's a huge challenge. To be who I am is a challenge in itself. I lost a job I had for 9 years when I 'came out'. But my clients and those who cross my path leads me to know I'm doing the correct thing. There is nothing like connecting with someone's loved one who has passed over and seeing the healing that goes on right in front of my eyes.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I came into this with no expectations.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I'm a firm believer in that if it's meant to be, it will be. I just allow life to tale me where I'm suppose to go. Basically riding on the wind, wherever it takes me I'm game.
Have you ever came into contact with a Celebrity?
Yes, but I don't tell.....
