What inspired you to launch your own website?
I stumbled across this simple meditation practice some years ago whilst in the grip of serve depression and alcoholism and over the next few months it completely transformed my life. For the past 6 years I have taught modern meditation as a treatment for cocaine addiction and other emotional and mental health disorders and have successfully treated more than 200 people for addictions, stress disorders, depression, obsessive compulsive behaviours and anger problems. This practice has the power to transform people lives but there is a limit to the number of people i can work with individually. I launched the website to give as many people as possibly access to this transforming way of living.

How did you decide on a name for your website?
A lot of people are put off meditation by the eastern religions and guru's which is a shame because meditation is a really useful tool that we can all benefit from. It is very effective way to deal with stress, and to live happier, healthier and more productive lives. It is the perfect tool to help with the stress and chaos of modern living. Modern Meditation is based upon these ancient wisdoms but we've taken out the eastern religion and presented it from a Modern western perspective and reduced the practice to some simple techniques and a few ideas.The name ModernMeditation.net aims to show that the practice is designed for modern living and is something that we can bring into our normal every day lives.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Modernmeditation.net has a learning zone with more than 70 individual video tutorials which lead the viewer step by step into thoughtless awareness and aims to gently guide the viewer towards enlightenment.
I'm not aware of any website offering such a comprehensive and high quality experience - completely free of charge.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To play my part in the further unfolding of human consciousness and to promote meditation as a vehicle for self healing and the for the wider good of humanity
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far about $100,000 invested and two years hard work and I haven't made a penny - so in that respect it has been a complete failure, but in other respects a real success, many people are using the website to deepen their awareness a take back control of their lives it is becoming a powerful self help and healing tool for our 250 members.There is a real positive energy developing.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would put all my energy into the website and create an on line Tv station dedicated to teaching meditation and awareness and promoting conscious projects that benefit of the planet and the whole of humanity. I would use the website to draw together enlightened and aware people from all over the world to create an on line space for healing and an energy for positive change in the world.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I would need to get some people to help me.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I had lots of problem and expense with video streaming solutions that were over complicated and expensive. Shocking cost of adwords and pay per click advertising.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting people to see the website. Cost per click advertising is very expensive and the search engine don't seem to find the website. Search engine optimization is a mystery to me.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth, facebook and personal recomendation
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
had absoutely no idea when I started where it was going so didn't really have any expectations. But it is much harder to attract traffic than I expected and I misunderstood many realities of presentation on the internet.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The website came on line properly in January 2008 and I will continue until my work is finished.

The website is evloving all the time I have no fixed ideas as to its future shape and form its an adventure that continues to unfold.
