It is not enough to say that the knowledge of the self is the greatest path and that it is difficult to find, but the only practical approach towards solving this question is to find a way which is both within the reach of a common person as well as affords an average man or woman enough room for acceptance. For example it would not be a very wise preaching if one were to say that you can gain enlightenment but you need to leave everything and go into the deep jungles and forests for the rest of your life. Of course this approach might have its own benefits as well.
For example if somebody wants to gain a degree of PhD in a specific topic, one studies deeply at least for three to four years and concentrates on the topic, leaving behind normal everyday activities like say going to clubs and parties routinely and literally leads the life of a hermit.
Yet people want that the one of the greatest knowledge which tends to explain the very basic concept of the existence of life itself to be gained without any efforts. Unfortunately it is not so, and the best practice is to start by taking a few serious steps which will be discussed later.
