If you have to reach a destination there are usually multiple paths to reach it. For example if you have to reach London you would take a different route or flight depending on whether you are starting from Brussels, Paris, Moscow or New York. It would be very absurd if there were only one path to the destination. In a similar fashion it would be very absurd if one would say that there is only one way to carry out the inside journey which is same for every human being on the earth.
Infact we all have different temperaments, thought processes, nature, level of belief and so forth. Therefore even if we wish, it would not be feasible for us all to follow a singular path to the centre or origin of life. Yet despite these differences inherently human beings are similar to each other.
Hence the path to the inside journey has to be of multiple lanes but which combines somewhere near the origin into a single destination. If we take an analogy in geometry we can compare this to a circle which has a centre as well as the radii which act like the spokes of a wheel originating from different directions but all leading to the same centre.
