Indeed a spiritual thing more than a mental or physical, children who have autism simply see the world in their own way and interpret it in ways that make them feel comfortable while doing so. The strength of a person lies within their soul so much more than within their physical ties to the world or within their mental perception of the world. Progress is based on trial and error in many cases. These children should be allowed to express themselves in whatever ways which seem fit.

I have been working with children for over ten years, including direct work with children who have had a variety of disabilities, including: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, and visual impairments.

My experiences have included working as an in home Special Needs Nanny and extensive work as an ABA therapist, Program Supervisor, and Case Consultant. Familiar approaches that I have successfully implemented include: ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis), DTT (Discrete Trial Training), PRT (Pivotal Response Training), RDI (Relationship Development Intervention), Floortime, PECS, TEACCH, SCERTS, and Sensory Integration. Other professionals I have worked closely with include: O.T.’s., PT’s, Vision Specialists, Infant Specialists, Opthomologists, Audiologists, Neurologists, and Pediatricians.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in Early Childhood Special Education. In addition to my extensive academic/educational experiences with autism, I also believe in incorporating a more integrative holistic approach. Because of this belief, I am pursuing a Ph.D in Holistic Life Coaching and a Doctorate of Divinity in Spiritual Counseling.

I believe that all families deserve knowledge, attention, and support. I believe that supporting families allows children to better connect and grow. Most importantly, however, I believe that families have the ability to change their children's lives.

I would like to help educate parents on all the treatment options that are available. As a certified Reiki Master Teacher, I wish to combine educational approaches traditionally used to treat autism with Reiki (Energy Therapy) as well as other homeopathic therapies. Additionally, I am available to teach Reiki to parents, caregivers, and professionals who are involved with children who have autism and other special needs.

We are hoping for the support from other professionals to get the word out there and help us support children and families in need.
